Tournament Rules

Participants and Eligibility: Tournaments are classified as open tournaments. Anyone meeting age and boat requirements may participate. There is no minimum age but anyone operating a gasoline motor must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

Pre-tournament Practice: There is no limit on how many times you may practice before the tournaments.

Registration: Pre-registration will begin the Monday before each tournament. You can pre-register by calling or e-mailing us at or after that time. Pre-registered boats will draw numbers at the ramp. Those teams who are not pre-registered will be given the number following that of the last pre-registered boat.

Safety: Safe boat contact must be observed at all times. No participant may fish within 50 ft. of another who is at anchor. Note: Boats at anchor must inform approaching boat if at anchor. Life preservers must be worn anytime a combustible engine is running. Anyone aged thirteen (13) and under must wear a life jacket at all times, no exceptions!

Sportsmanship: Participants are expected to follow a high standard of sportsmanship, safety, and conservation. Participants will be policed by each other. Any complaints or infractions must be given to the tournament director within 30 minutes of check in time. Complaints must be in writing. To settle disputes three competitors and the tournament director and assistant director will hear the complaint and their decision is final.

Tackle and Equipment: Only artificial lures may be used. No live bait, or prepared bait will be permitted. Only one rod and reel may be used at one time. No trolling is allowed. Nets may be used to land fish.

Boat Length and Horsepower: No restrictions on boat length and motor HP.

Basic Boat Equipment: All boats must have all required Coast Guard mandated safety equipment. Plus, each boat must have at least one oar. All boats must have live well space properly aerated to adequately maintain a live limit catch of bass. Note: coolers aerated may be substituted for live wells. Live wells will be checked prior to launch at each tournament.

Vacating Boat: During the tournament no one is allowed to leave the boat except for emergencies.

Checkpoint: Check in and check out point will be the launch ramp at tournament site. Participants are required to identify themselves when launching and checking back in. There is a late penalty for participants not in the checkpoint area at check in time of one pound per minute late up to ten minutes, at which time they wll be disqualified, no excuses.

Scoring: Only largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass will be scored. All tournaments have a six (6) fish limit. All fish must be a minimum of twelve (12") inches long. Note: "Golden Rule" is used for official measurements. Participants are penalized six (6 oz.) ounces for each dead fish brought to the scales. For each fish less than the minimum length (12 inches), the participant will be penalized that fish's weight, plus 1 pound from the total weight. The winner will be determined by total pounds and ounces.

Ties: In the case of a tie for first place the largest fish from both teams will be used to decide the winner. If both large fish are the same weight, first and second place prizes will be combined and split between the two teams.

Entry Fee: A fee of $70.00 per tournament is required to enter. One person may enter alone if he/she wishes but this is not recommended. The entry fee includes Big Bass. The payout schedule will be determined by the number of boats entered. WE PAY BACK TO AT LEAST 20% OF THE FIELD. Big Bass will be 10% of the total pot for each tournament. For Example: 30 boats X $70.00 per boat = $2,100, Big Bass will pay $210.
